Normandy Schools Door-to-Door plans ready to roll

Normandy Schools Door-to-Door plans ready to roll

Thursday, 24 July 2014

We have everything set for the Normandy schools door-to-door effort. We had to get dates secured that would work for Dr. Charles Pearson, who will conduct the volunteer training, and dates that would work for the district. The district has approved everything on the attached invitation, so we are ready to go. They will be providing some of the information needed for the canvassers to inform families of district key dates, school board meeting dates, PTA/PTO meeting dates if known by then, and info. on the 'back-to-school' rally on Aug. 16th the district is having.

There are several back-to-school events going on, meetings, etc. that will conflict with some of these dates below, but there are multiple opportunities for folks to volunteer so don't stress over a conflict or two. Hopefully, everyone can do at least one training session and one canvass day. Some will do them all most likely.

The volunteer training sessions will be at Lucas Crossing school on July 28th (Monday) and July 31st (Thursday), 6 to 8 pm. Volunteers going door-to-door must attend one of the two training sessions so our approach and message is clear and consistent, and effective, which is what Dr. Pearson will share in the training. Canvass dates are August 6 and 7 at 1 to 3 pm and also 6 to 8 pm as some will be home in daytime if they work nights and we want to catch them all; Aug. 9th 10 am to noon; and finally on Sunday, Aug. 17th to return the pledge cards we discussed to the families that signed them during our earlier canvassing, and to re-visit those not home before if possible.

AN INVITATION

PLEASE HELP WITH

DOOR-TO-DOOR OUTREACH TO

NORMANDY SCHOOLS COLLABORATIVE PARENTS, STUDENTS AND FAMILIES

The former Normandy School District is now the Normandy Schools Collaborative (NSC). The first day of school is Monday, August 18, 2014and it is very important that each child get to school that day and every day thereafter. It is up to the parents, guardians, families and neighbors of the students to help them get there. We are all part of the village that helps raise all of our children.

We hope you will be part of the volunteer team that will go door-to-door to visit NSC students’ households to

1) Inform families of the many changes regarding the school district; and about the Back-to-School rally on Saturday, August 16th.

2) Encourage, and get parents/guardians commitment to get their child to school on August 18th and every school day thereafter, and that they will get and/or remain actively involved in their child’s education.

DOOR-TO-DOOR VISITS WILL BE CONDUCTED THROUGHOUT ALL 24 NSC MUNICIPALITIES ON AUGUST 6TH, 7TH, 9TH, AND 17TH. We need your help.

For our outreach efforts to be effective, all volunteers must attend a trainingsession about this outreach effort on one of the following days/times:

MONDAY, July 28th, 6 to 8 pm at Lucas Crossing School, 7837 Natural Bridge OR

THURSDAY, July 31st, 6 to 8 pm at Lucas Crossing School (zip code 63121).

RSVP to mayormonica@greendale-mo.us. Refer questions to Greendale Mayor Monica Huddleston, 314-725-6575. Several 24:1 area elected officials are co-sponsoring this effort.
